The notable changes

In a nutshell, the main changes that you’re going to hear about are the camera, the Dynamic Island and battery life.

 The Camera

Finally; Apple has delivered a massive camera upgrade to compete with its Google and Samsung counterparts. The main camera on the newest iPhone Pro models is 48 megapixels (mp), which is a big upgrade from the iPhone 13 Pro models that feature a 12 mp camera.

The latest camera promises better low light images as well as improved ability to capture realistic color and detail. There is also a new Action mode on the camera that enables you to film extremely smooth video when it comes to moving subjects. Nice move Apple … pun intended.

 The Dynamic Island

The display on the pro models is now notchless. That means that little black strip across the top of the screen is gone! And in its place — a feature called The Dynamic Island. But what is the Dynamic Island you ask? It’s a new way to interact with iPhone and it’s going to show you alerts, notifications and activity in real time. And now that that notch is gone, screen size is maximized for your content.

 Battery Life

Yes, the iPhone Pro models have a better battery life than their predecessors. That’s not to say that the previous models were bad but Apple has dared to refer to this upgrade as all-day battery. The battery on the iPhone 14 Pro is said to be able to last for up to 23 hours of video playback while the iPhone 14 Pro Max is said to be able to last for up to 29 hours of video playback.

 Additional Notable features

  • An A16 bionic chip for improved performance
  • Collision Detection - a safety feature that triggers and emergency call
  • An advanced display with exceptional peak brightness for outdoors.
  • An ‘always on’ display that shows limited information when the phone is in use. For example, date and time. (This feature can also be turned off).

What’s the difference between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max?

The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro Max both offer an innovative camera, the Dynamic Island and excellent battery life. So if they both have the most advanced features that Apple has introduced, what's the real difference?

Answer: Display size, body size, weight and battery.

The Pro Max is larger overall in size and weight. Both iPhone 14 Pro models feature always-on Super Retina XDR all-screen OLED displays with ProMotion. The screen on the iPhone 14 Pro Max's is slightly larger at 2,796 by 1,290 pixels. While the iPhone 14 Pro is 2,556 by 1,179 pixels. Both models have the same pixel density of 460 ppi (pixels per inch). So image and video resolution will be the same.
