Iphone XR FAQs

The iPhone XR is a great option for a powerful phone at a good price point. It received the same A12 chip (like the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max) so it shows improved processing and power efficiency over the iPhone X. The XR features FaceID and a decent camera (although the iPhone X and XS still provide better stills and video.)

Apple produces modern products, so even though features evolve and some materials change, the iPhone XR has great performance and fun color options too. An important consideration in your purchase of an iPhone will be what you intend to use the phone for. Overall the Apple iPhone XR offers great performance on a budget and appears up to date and sleek.

If you’re looking for more information on the specific features check out more of the questions below.

iPhone XS: 143.6mm tall by 70.9mm wide, and it is 7.7mm thick

Whether or not the iPhone XR is worth it, really depends on what you want to use your phone for. If you want to upgrade from an older model and experience some of the more contemporary iPhone features for a great, the iPhone XR could be perfect for that.

This makes an absolutely awesome entry level iPhone, especially if you’re looking for a smartphone for one of the kids. The fun color options don’t hurt either!

If you’re willing to pay just a bit more for a phone that’s more powerful and better for creating digital content, you could look at the iPhone 11. If price is your top priority some of the older models could still do the trick for you.

Overall the iPhone XR has a powerful A12 chip with good performance but some of the camera features and higher resolution display are sacrificed for the price point. The value for the cost makes the iPhone XR one of the best selling phones at Frank Mobile.

The iPhone XR was launched on September 12 of 2018.

The iPhone X has a better display with higher pixel density which gives more clarity.

The resolution on the XR is lower but the screen is actually larger (6.1 inches).

The iPhone X has 2 rear facing cameras (great for zoom) while the XR only has 1.

The iPhone X and iPhone XR both have FaceID.

The iPhone X has a standard nano SIM while the iPhone XR features dual SIM which means it has a nano SIM and an eSIM. An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical nano SIM.

iPhone X is powered by an A11 bionic chip but the XR was upgraded to the A12 so it shows an improvement in performance

Does the iPhone XR get iOS 14? Yes, the iPhone XR supports iOS 14. iOS 14 is compatible with the iPhone 6s and later.

The next largest phone in the X series is the iPhone XS Max, that features a 6.5 inch display.

At Frank we think the iPhone XR is a great deal but it really comes down to personal preference. This model strikes a decent balance between a leap into the more modern iPhone series and a cost savings.

Yes, the iPhone XR does use Facial ID. The iPhone X was the first iPhone model to introduce facial recognition.

Yes, the iPhone XR features dual SIM. It has the option for a nano SIM or eSIM which allows a carrier to remotely activate your plan.

The iPhone X comes in 64GB or 128GB of storage.

The iPhone XR has a lot of fun color options. The colors include: Blue, Black, White, Coral, Yellow and Red (PRODUCT)RED).

The iPhone XR is not waterproof. Generally iPhones are built to withstand some water penetration but won’t always survive a drop in deep water or or being submerged for an extended period of time. Read...some intense rain might be okay...the toilet, you might not be as lucky. Don’t go swimming with your iPhone.

The iPhone XR does have a level of dust and water resistance. Apple has noted that this resistance is not permanent and may decrease with time. The water resistance might improve slightly with a case but the iPhone XR is not technically waterproof.

You should always let your iPhone dry out completely before inserting any cables or trying to turn it back on.

Battery on the iPhone XR is great and you can get up to about 15 hours of browsing. If you tend to use your phone more for audio playback and phone calls than internet browsing you can expect more out of the battery.

Keep in mind that the more recent iOS versions tend to use more power as well, but the iPhone XR holds up. When you purchase a refurbished iPhone the battery has likely been slightly depleted but at Frank We guarantee our batteries retain a minimum of 80% of their original capacity (which Apple has declared sufficient for efficient battery performance).

Apple's lithium-ion batteries are designed to hold at least 80% of their original capacity for a high number of charge cycles, this will vary depending on the product.

Yes, the iPhone XR has the ability to screen record. If you don’t see the record button on your home screen you can enable it.

Go to settings > control center > customize controls > and scroll down to add screen recording. You can then access it via your main screen by swiping down on the top right corner of the display.
