What’s the difference between the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus?

When new iPhones get released, they come out three or four at a time which makes it a bit hard to figure out which is the best for you. What’s the difference between them? Which is the best one for you? When it comes down to choosing a phone, it’s always good to know your options. Let’s take a look at the difference between the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Colour

If colour was what you were going to base your decision on, you may need to reconsider! Both the 8 and the 8 Plus come in the same three colours: silver, space grey, and gold. You can always get yourself a case though.

Screen Size

The 8 and the 8 Plus are similar in a lot of ways, but screen size is where they differ. The iPhone 8 has a 4.7” Retina HD Display, while the iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5” Retina HD Display. If you’re looking for a phone to stream or play games on, the 8 Plus is the better of the two.

Camera

Planning on taking a bunch of pictures with your phone? The 8 Plus is the better of these two options. The iPhone 8 has a single 12-megapixel Wide camera, whereas the iPhone 8 Plus has  dual 12-megapixel Wide and Telephoto cameras, plus portrait mode. Both phones have optical image stabilization and True Tone flash with Slow Sync. Both options will still take great photos, it just depends on what you’ll be taking pictures of.

Battery Life

Ah, battery life. Possibly the most important part of your phone. It may have all the bells and whistles, but if it doesn’t even last an afternoon at the park, then what’s the point? The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both have rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, and both support Qi wireless charging. The iPhone 8 has up to 13 hours of video playback, while the 8 Plus has up to 14 hours. For audio playback, the 8 has up to 40 hours whereas the 8 Plus has up to 60 hours. Between the two, the iPhone 8 Plus is the better battery option.

Water Resistance

Water resistance may be the best addition to iPhones of all time. Not that you shouldn’t still be careful around water, but it gives you some peace of mind that you won’t destroy the device if you’re caught out in the rain. Both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are water-resistant to a depth of 1 metre for up to 30 minutes.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are great value options for people who want a high-quality phone but don’t need a massive screen or all of the additional features. Check out Frank’s selection of iPhone 8 devices and iPhone 8 Plus devices to find what works for you.
